Born and raised California Girl, McKenna discovered her passion for scenic design while attending California State University, Chico. During her undergraduate years, she designed and assistant designed multiple main stage productions, ultimately earning her degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Gender Studies (and almost double minors in Applied Computer Graphics and Political Science—but who’s counting?!).

In 2013, McKenna made the move to New York City, where she spent nearly three years working at the Robin Hood Foundation, a major nonprofit organization based in Manhattan. She then joined Konduit, Inc., a set fabrication company in Long Island City known for building sets and props for television, film, fashion shoots, and specialty events across New York. At Konduit, McKenna served as a Draftsperson and Project Manager for four years, coordinating complex productions throughout the city and state.

In pursuit of further artistic and technical growth, McKenna returned to California to earn her MFA in Design and Technology for Theatre, Television, and Film from San Diego State University, graduating in 2023. Following her MFA, she relocated to Las Vegas to work as the Manager of Design Execution at Blue Heron Homes, a luxury custom home fabricator, where she led the Interior Design Division on high-end residential projects.

Now back in California and continuing her journey in entertainment design, McKenna serves as the Director of Production at Diversionary Theatre in San Diego, CA—bringing her extensive experience in design, project management, and storytelling to the stage.
